Is Astrology Real Or Fake?

There are a large number of people out there who dislike surprises. These are the very people who read their daily or weekly horoscope, believe in fortune cookies and have spoken to Mrs. Cleo (or someone else along those lines) at least once in their life. These are the very people who are actively involved in what they feel is “astrology”. Astrology is actually an ancient science which is the study of a human being’s response to planetary stimuli. But the question that stands: Is it legitimate? Can the movements of certain planets and constellations really dictate many of the happenings in our life?

Astrology: do we make a hullabaloo among the stars, or do they make a hullabaloo down here?  ~Mason Cooley

Well in short, the answer is both yes and no.

Horoscopes, Fortune Cookies, Tarot Cards, etc:

These means of displaying astrology or “telling the future” are far from the truth, no matter how accurate they may seem. Writers get paid big money to invent daily horoscopes for the newspapers, magazines, internet etc. and so, are masters at what they do. They can transform the most generalized statement into something complex and unique; and since it will be extremely vague, you will find something about it to relate to.

So does that mean that the planets and stars do not have a hand in our futures? No, the science of astrology is actually very real, just as money is real. But even when speaking of money, there are some people out there who will provide you with counterfeit bills. Similarly, there are many “fake” astrologers and “fake” sources of astrology.

The Only Authentic Astrologer

A long time ago, only a true spiritual master (Sat Guru) was considered a valid source of astrological information. Only he was able to accurately see into one’s past, present, future and correctly decipher one’s natal chart. And he does all of this for no money at all. Sooner or later, business men and scam artists figured out ways to turn this into a money-making business by acquiring basic knowledge and tricks on the subject—and so, many fakes were born.

How Does It Work?

A child is born on that day and at that hour when the celestial rays are in mathematical harmony with his individual karma.  ~Sri Yukteswar

At the time of your birth, the planets, sun, moon and stars were aligned in such a way that they were probably never like that before. These celestial bodies correspond to certain days and months out of the year along with different influential forces. Using your birthday and exact birth time (sometimes birth location as well) a certified astrologer can create a natal chart for you and use it to determine personality traits, upcoming problems and sicknesses, etc.

Does This Mean Our Fate Is Pre-Destined?

Yes and no. The spiritual master will of course take note of any upcoming problems in your life and suggest changes to make to avoid said problems. Anything and everything can be either avoided or dumbed down. But if you simply stand idle then you will have to bear whatever it is that life throws at you. The only way to step out of the range of the positive and negative effects of these celestial bodies is through meditation based on Brahma Jnana (Divine Knowledge), which is acquired by the grace of a true spiritual master.

Before one accepts spirituality, astrology is very powerful, like a lion.  Then when one enters into a deeper spiritual life, astrology becomes a tiny household cat.  ~Sri Chinmoy

For ages the science of practical realization of God within ourselves has been passed down by all of the great masters including Christ, Krishna, Buddha and Muhammad. "The Divine Light Within" goes into great detail on how this science works, the unity of all religion, and proof of God's existence. The author along with the help of his Guru, His Holiness Shri Ashutosh Maharaj Ji has went through the four main scriptures (The Bible, The Qur'an, The Bhagavad Gita, The Buddhist Sutras) to back up all of the information presented in this 'tremendous effort of welfare'.
